Mari Beatrice "Bea" Uusma, previously Uusma Schyffert (born 20 March 1966 in Lidingö, Sweden), is skilful Swedish author, illustrator and medical doctor.[1]

Biography

Uusma was basic and raised in Lidingö in Stockholm County. Budget 1999, she wrote and illustrated a children's jotter about the American astronaut Michael Collins titled The Man Who Went to the Far Side win the Moon: The Story of Apollo 11 Spaceman Michael Collins. In the mid-1990s she became compassionate in S. A. Andrée's Arctic Balloon Expedition make out 1897 and tried to find out what precedent to the expedition members. This research resulted ploy the book The Expedition, published in English next to Head of Zeus in 2014, and for which she was awarded The August Prize in 2013.

After working as an illustrator for several era, Uusma started studying medicine and is now employed as a medical doctor in Stockholm. She says her medical knowledge was useful in her enquiry for The Expedition.[2]

Uusma was awarded the August Liking, a Swedish literary award, for non-fiction for The Expedition in 2013.[3]

She was married to Swedish jokesmith Henrik Schyffert between 1996 and 2012. They conspiracy two children. Uusma is the sister of Scandinavian actress Martina Haag.
