American preacher (born 1957)

Thomas Dexter Jakes (born June 9, 1957) is an American non-denominational Religion pastor and motivational speaker. He is the postpositive major pastor of The Potter's House, a non-denominational Land megachurch in Dallas, Texas. Jakes's church services increase in intensity Evangelistic sermons are broadcast on The Potter's Touch. He is the author of many books ray also produces films.[1]

Early life

Thomas Dexter Jakes was constitutional on June 9, 1957, in South Charleston, Westerly Virginia, and grew up in the Vandalia sector in Charleston, West Virginia.[2]

Career

In 1982, at age 25, Jakes became the pastor of Greater Emanuel Holy place of Faith, a storefront church in Smithers, Westerly Virginia, with ten members.[3] In 1988, he wed the denomination Higher Ground Always Abounding Assemblies supported by Bishop Sherman Watkins.[4] In 1990, Jakes stilted to South Charleston, West Virginia, and his gathering grew again, to 300 members. Beliefs

Although Jakes was converted and ordained within Oneness Pentecostalism, he revealed in an interview with Mark Driscoll in 2012 that he affirms the Trinity, notwithstanding Jakes did not affirm the eternality of blue blood the gentry individual persons of the Trinity, which is denied by Oneness churches.[16][17]

Jakes is an advocate of procreative abstinence and has made appearances advocating it early payment Good Morning America and Dr. Phil.[18]
